Kaboom!! More like  Kaboom!! POW!! BAM!! from the old Batman Tv
series. LOL 😛

Unlike my food adventures until today,
where I have dozens of dishes this was my first visit to a café popular among
the suits to get their daily lunch.
Kaboom is a fast food joint or as the
name suggests “Casual food” joint, located at Ballard estate, Fort.  Drawing inspiration from the 80’s, the entire
décor of Kaboom oozes vintage. Sewing machine stands, Milk Cans and parts of
shaadiwale pankhe form a good part of the furniture. From the old school
folding wooden party chairs to big round flip switches to suspended ceiling
fans, found these days only in government buildings, Kaboom is a step back in
time.

With a watchful eye on the
environment, this eccentric café opts for eco-friendly biodegradable cutlery.
No artificial inks are used on the cutlery or paper napkins.
The cream walls bare the daily
rotating menu, a unique feature of this place. It ensures you walk in to a
completely new food experience every single day. Now, ain’t this interesting,
that you walk in everyday to a different cuisine.
Mon: Chinese,Tue: Italian,Wed: American,Thu: South Asian,Fri: Arabic.No more boring dal rice every day… yeah !!
Yohaan Dattoobhai, armed with a global
resume, had initially chalked up the thought of launching his own food truck.
However, licensing issues quickly screeched all his ideas to an abrupt halt.
Keen on setting up an eatery that would serve delicious “on the go” food,
Kaboom was born. Unlike fast food joints, the ingredients in the wholesome food
prepared here are sourced directly from local farms, eliminating the middlemen.
Being a Monday –Chinese day, I called
for a Combo meal consisting of Kung pao Chicken noodles, Chilly dim sums, Onion
Pancake & Broccoli salad.

From the dim sum layers to the inner
stuffing and the sauces, entirely made in house, the cotton-like soft dim sums
were just wiped off the face of the plate.
The light Onion Pan Cake was semi
baked & semi pan fried, a healthy cooking method, making it non greasy especially
for those diet conscious souls.

A fresh colorful Broccoli Salad with
a sweet and sour dressing was peppered with chili sauce to add a hint of
spiciness to the fresh crunchy vegetables, hitting the right spots.
Kung Pao Chicken Noodles boasted of
well-prepared noodles mixed with chunky chicken bits & sautéed cashews.

We decided to close out with a
Cappuccino & Nutella Toasties. The bitterness of the Cappuccino overpowered
the crispy Nutella-splashed toast bits.
A light and easy on the pocket meal,
Kaboom is a healthy option especially when freshness and authenticity are
deciding factors.

True to its word, Kaboom serves
authentic and light food to keep you fresh even after a proper meal ensuring
you do not dose off at your work place.
The only downside to Kaboom is that
they are functional only on weekdays from 8:30 am to 7:00 pm i.e. breakfast,
lunch and an early evening snack; due to the surrounding premises.
If you do happen to drive by around
Ballard estates or need to have a quick bite without letting the laziness kick
in, you know where you can have a hearty meal!
