Its wedding season and the invites have started pouring in my mail box. While Indian weddings can be a grand affair and fun to attend especially for the unending meal course, I secretly wish they would all be destination wedding (wishful thinking, right?)

Far off from the mundane life, destination weddings are just not your mainstream weddings. It is much more fun visiting new places surrounded by loved ones and participating in the wedding shenanigans.

Destination weddings are yet to shine with palace weddings hogging all the limelight. If you are planning a destination wedding akin to those Hollywood dream weddings, then this might interest you.

Vineyard weddings are quickly becoming the new fad. Imagine taking your Wedding Vows surrounded by lush Vineyards and raising a toast with some finely prepared Wine – the magical grape juice, Fancy much?

One such beautiful property that hosts Vineyard Weddings is Soma Vine Village. Located a mere 4 hours away from Mumbai on the outskirts of Nashik, Soma Vine Village is the first of its kind in India.

The panoramic views of the vineyards are nearly unmatchable.

The Resort:

Soma Vine Village is built in the midst of a 25 acre land surrounded by a large stretch of vineyards. The Gangapur Dam backwaters in the distance and the Sahyadri mountain peaks complement the beautiful backdrop. The  resort boasts of 29 deluxe rooms and 7 Villas with a private pool & a personal Chef to each. The balconies of the deluxe rooms open to a beautiful view of an infinity pool overseeing the vineyards. A relaxing Spa, an indoor game room and a wine tasting experience add up to the list of leisurely features of this place a perfect weekend getaway.

The Room:

The Rooms are helmed with modern amenities; compact and cosy enough to spend a relaxed weekend. A Bean bag to laze around in, overlooking the trajectory of the sun sparkling over the pool trailed by the vineyards.

The Food:

The Multi cuisine restaurant Sufiyaana is just a short stroll away. Beautiful view from the restaurant. Now, as Soma is a Vineyard and most of the focus is on wines, a teetotaller like me would thirst for a non-alcoholic drink. I found the food below average with limited options and the quality could definitely do with some major improvements. The service was slower than expected, considering it was a weekend and guests were in full swing, this could be overlooked.

Wine Tasting and Tour:

When in a vineyard, taste the wine and that’s exactly what my friend did. We were taken on a guided tour of the winery and educated in the fine process of wine making. The tour concluded with techniques of recognising and tasting different types of wines; red, white, sparkling.

Ideal for Destination Wedding?

With a tour of the Vineyards and looking back at some snippets of previously held weddings here, the place seems perfect for a destination wedding away from the hustle and bustle of noisy concrete jungles. This is the ideal location for families & friends, not just to relax and unwind at the Soma Vine Village and Resorts but also to make your grand day special and unique.

  1. Woah, this looks gorgeous!! Great pictures. I had no idea that India has a viticulture scene. I know they have a burgeoning chocolate & cacao scene, but it’s good to see that all types of fine food are taking off. I would love to visit here for anything, though, seriously; mediocre food or not. A destination wedding… mine, or anyone else’s… would be icing on the cake! Thanks for sharing this place. 🙂

  2. I have been to Soma Vineyards. It is a beautiful place. Loved the wine tasting experience and the food.
